Production of ‘SIL CHIPO’ Soft Drinks Suspended in Yerevan Due to Non-Compliance

Yerevan, Armenia, April 22 – The Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia (FSIB), specifically inspectors from its Yerevan center, has suspended certain production activities at the “Sil-Maaza” LLC soft drink manufacturing facility in Yerevan. This action follows an inspection during which samples of “SIL CHIPO” branded carbonated soft drinks were collected and submitted for laboratory analysis.

Non-Compliance with Customs Union Regulations

According to the FSIB, laboratory examination results indicated that samples of “SIL CHIPO” carbonated soft drinks, specifically the pear-flavored variety (produced on March 18, 2026) and the tarragon-flavored variety (produced on February 12, 2026), did not comply with the requirements set forth by the Customs Union regulations. The non-compliance was related to microbiological indicators, including mesophilic aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms, as well as total yeast/mold counts.

As a direct consequence of these findings, and by decision of the FSIB head, the production of the aforementioned soft drink varieties at the “Sil-Maaza” LLC facility has been suspended.

Recall and Rectification Orders Issued

The manufacturer has been issued directives to prohibit the sale of the non-compliant batches, to recall them from the market, and to either destroy or dispose of them appropriately. Furthermore, “Sil-Maaza” LLC has been instructed to ensure that its products meet the current technical regulations. A deadline has been set for the company to rectify these inconsistencies.

This measure underscores the commitment of the Armenian authorities to ensuring food safety and protecting consumer health. The FSIB continues to monitor food production facilities to uphold established quality and safety standards across the country.
