Yerevan, September 7 – FC Pyunik has officially announced the dismissal of its head coach, Artak Oseyan. While the club stated the separation was by mutual agreement, the decision has unveiled intriguing behind-the-scenes details related to recent changes in the club’s leadership.

Oseyan’s Departure and Coaching Staff Changes

According to the official press release from FC Pyunik, Artak Oseyan and the club have mutually agreed to terminate his contract. This marks the end of Oseyan’s third tenure with the club, having previously managed the team in 2016/17 and 2020. Alongside Oseyan, assistant coaches Artur Mkrtchyan and Gor Malakyan, as well as goalkeeping coach Gurgen Hakobyan, are also leaving the coaching staff.

Oseyan took over the head coach position in August 2025. Under his leadership, Pyunik finished third in the Armenian Premier League in the 2025/26 season, securing a spot in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers. In the 2026/27 European campaign, the team successfully navigated the first qualifying round, defeating Maltese club Marsaxlokk in both legs.

FC Pyunik extended its gratitude to Artak Oseyan and his coaching staff for their work, energy, and dedication to the club.

New Sports Advisor and Stricter Club Rules

Prior to the official announcement, journalist Norik Serobyan of “МЯЧ РУ” and “Еврофутбол” revealed the true motivations behind the coach’s departure on his Telegram channel “инсайдЯН”. Serobyan quoted Dmitry Selyuk, the newly appointed sports advisor to Pyunik’s general director, who spoke candidly about the club’s internal rules and the coach’s authority.

In an interview with the journalist, Selyuk made a rather firm statement regarding the club’s new philosophy: “People who do not want to work by our rules will not work at the club. If Oseyan does not work by our rules, he will not be at Pyunik. Everything here will be decided by the club, instructions will come from above. The coach comes, he trains, develops, and conducts the training process. But if someone sets conditions or resorts to blackmail, we will not tolerate it.”

Potential Successor and Future Developments

The source also added that Dmitry Selyuk is the agent of Fran Artiga, the Spanish head coach of Rubin Kazan. Rumors about Artiga’s potential departure from Kazan have been circulating since last year, and according to the journalist, Selyuk needs a coach with whom he can manage and control the entire process.

Artiga could be considered one of the options for Pyunik’s new head coach. However, it is noted that the Spanish specialist earns a significantly higher salary in Kazan than the Yerevan club can currently offer. Further developments regarding Pyunik’s coaching staff are expected in the near future.
