YEREVAN, July 16 – The Yerevan Patrol Police have reported several successful operations in uncovering cases of illegal drug possession and use during their night shifts on July 15. These operations led to multiple arrests in the Arabkir and Shengavit administrative districts, with investigations currently underway.
Arabkir District Operations Lead to Two Arrests
On July 15, at approximately 1:10 AM, officers from the 4th Battalion, 1st Company of the Yerevan City Patrol Regiment apprehended a 27-year-old man near an address on Manushyan Street. The individual was detained on suspicion of acquiring and possessing drugs. A personal search revealed a package containing a substance resembling marijuana and a dropper with burnt residue. The suspect was subsequently transferred to the Arabkir Department of Community Police for further proceedings.
Later the same day, at around 2:10 AM, officers from the same battalion and company identified and arrested another individual, a 32-year-old man, near an address on Ghapantsyan Street. Similar to the previous incident, a personal search of this suspect uncovered a package of a marijuana-like substance and a dropper with burnt traces, leading to his transfer to the Arabkir Department of Community Police.
Shengavit District Sees Another Drug-Related Arrest
The patrol police’s efforts continued into the evening. At approximately 8:50 PM, officers from the 3rd Battalion, 1st Company of the Yerevan City Patrol Regiment apprehended a 37-year-old man from Gyumri city on Nerkin Shengavit 3rd Street. He was arrested on reasonable suspicion of drug possession and use. A personal search of the individual revealed two packages containing a substance resembling marijuana and a dropper with the same substance. This suspect was then transported to the Shengavit Department of Community Police.
Investigations Underway for All Cases
All compiled documents related to these incidents have been submitted to the pre-investigation body, indicating that formal criminal proceedings have commenced. The police continue their efforts to combat illegal drug activities within the city, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining public safety and order.
