Yerevan, Armenia – A significant victory for state interests was achieved as the Anti-Corruption Court ruled on June 5, 2026, to return a 12,860 square meter land plot in Yerevan to the Republic of Armenia. The plot, located adjacent to Lukashin Street, has an estimated cadastral value of AMD 37,133,000, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office.

Court Upholds Prosecutor’s Claim

The lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General’s Office to protect state interests was satisfied by the court’s decision. Upon the judicial act entering into legal force, the Republic of Armenia will officially register its ownership rights over the land.

This case stems from a sales contract signed on June 20, 2005, between the Mayor of Yerevan and a private individual. The Prosecutor General’s Office had sought to invalidate this contract and apply the consequences of its invalidity, arguing that state interests were compromised.

Broader Efforts to Protect State Assets

This successful land recovery is part of a broader initiative by the Prosecutor General’s Office to reclaim illegally alienated state property and funds. Recent cases highlight these ongoing efforts:

  • Hrazdan Former Mayor: Immovable and movable properties, as well as monetary funds, will be confiscated from former Hrazdan Mayor Aram Danielyan in favor of the Republic of Armenia, following a satisfied lawsuit for illegal property confiscation.
  • Tsitsernakaberd Highway: A case concerning the alienation of state property on Tsitsernakaberd Highway has been sent to court, revealing damages amounting to AMD 529 million.
  • Byureghavan Community: Approximately 1.3 hectares of historical and cultural land in Byureghavan community, comprising 14 land plots, will be returned to the community. This was a result of a satisfied lawsuit by the Kotayk region’s Prosecutor’s Office to protect state interests.
  • AMD 63 Million Property: The ownership rights of the Republic of Armenia will be restored over immovable property valued at AMD 63 million, following another successful lawsuit by the Prosecutor’s Office.
  • Dilijan Community: AMD 2,970,000 will be recovered in favor of the Dilijan community, as a result of a satisfied lawsuit by the Prosecutor’s Office for the protection of state interests.

Commitment to Combating Illicit Gains

The Prosecutor General’s Office continues its diligent work in identifying and challenging transactions that undermine state interests, ensuring that public assets are protected and returned to their rightful owner – the people of Armenia. These actions underscore a firm commitment to combating illicit gains and upholding the rule of law.

The successful reclamation of the 12,860 sq. m plot in Yerevan serves as a clear message regarding the government’s resolve to rectify past irregularities and safeguard national wealth.
