The Yerevan Zoo has announced exciting new additions to its animal collection, offering visitors fresh discoveries and unique viewing opportunities. The zoo’s Facebook page confirmed the arrival of several new residents, enhancing the diversity of species on display.

New Arrivals at Yerevan Zoo

Among the most anticipated newcomers is Zeus, a young male lion, who is now ready to meet the public. This addition is expected to be a major draw for visitors, particularly those interested in big cats.

In a significant development for Armenian wildlife enthusiasts, the Yerevan Zoo is now the first in the country to showcase African white-fronted antelopes, known as blesboks. These distinctive animals are a rare sight and provide a unique educational opportunity for visitors to learn about African wildlife.

For fans of wild felines, the zoo has introduced manuls, also known as Pallas’s cats. These unique cats are renowned for their distinctive appearance and perpetually ‘disgruntled’ expressions, making them a fascinating addition to the zoo’s carnivore collection.

Furthermore, the Caucasian lynxes, a native species to the region, have been relocated to a new, more spacious enclosure. This move aims to provide the lynxes with a more comfortable and natural habitat, improving their welfare and offering visitors a better viewing experience.

Expanded Bird Section

The bird section of the Yerevan Zoo has also seen significant enhancements with the addition of three new aviaries. These new enclosures are home to a variety of newly exhibited bird species, including peacocks, pheasants, and cranes. These additions contribute to the zoo’s avian diversity and offer vibrant displays for birdwatchers and general visitors alike.

The zoo encourages both local residents and tourists to visit and explore these new attractions, promising an enriched and engaging experience for all ages. The continuous expansion and improvement of facilities underscore the zoo’s commitment to conservation, education, and providing a high-quality environment for its animals.
