Hrazdan, Armenia – A significant step forward in humanitarian aid has been taken in Hrazdan, Kotayk Province, Armenia, with the inauguration of a new, state-of-the-art branch of the Armenian Red Cross Society. This facility, the twelfth of its kind in the country, was financed by South Korea, marking another instance of its crucial support for such projects in Armenia.
Enhanced Accessibility and Expanded Services
The previous Hrazdan branch operated from a small room, posing considerable challenges for individuals with disabilities to access its services. The newly constructed building is fully adapted to work with diverse population groups and is equipped with all necessary amenities, as stated by the organization’s leadership. This development is part of a broader initiative, with new branches also opening in Sevan and Kapan earlier the same year. Another branch is slated for launch in Goris by the end of the year.
The Armenian Red Cross is actively engaged in providing essential food and hygiene products to those in need. In Masis, a canteen serves hot meals to one hundred elderly individuals daily. The organization’s strategic goal is to replicate this successful model across all regions of Armenia, ensuring that no one in the country goes hungry.
International Partnership and Recognition
The opening ceremony was attended by international partners, underscoring the collaborative nature of this humanitarian endeavor. Kim Minsun, Counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, emphasized the special place humanitarian cooperation within the framework of the Red Cross holds in the relations between the two countries. “For South Korea and Armenia, this is not merely about financing infrastructure projects, but an investment in a long-term partnership. It is based on shared humanitarian values and the desire to help vulnerable groups of the population,” she highlighted.
Javier Castellanos Mosquera, Deputy Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, highly commended the work of the Armenian organization. “This organization consistently stands out for its operational efficiency in crisis situations and strictly adheres to international standards for responding to emergencies. We also note the high level of satisfaction among the people who have received assistance,” he stated.
A Bridge of Humanity: Seoul-Yerevan
During their visit, guests personally toured the new office, observing its comprehensive facilities, and participated in a demonstration of first aid skills. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of friendship medals to foreign partners who have supported the Armenian organization for many years, symbolizing the strong bonds of international cooperation. This initiative further solidifies the ‘Seoul-Yerevan humanitarian bridge’, demonstrating a commitment to shared values and mutual support in addressing humanitarian challenges.
