Expired Food Products Destroyed in Gyumri Following Citizen Complaint
Gyumri, August 13, 2024 – Following a citizen’s complaint, inspectors from the Shirak regional center of the Food Safety Inspectorate Body of the Republic of Armenia conducted a control inspection at a sales point belonging to “KARONA” LLC in Gyumri.
The inspection revealed several violations, including the presence of halva, eggs, and chechil cheese of unknown origin. Additionally, semi-smoked sausages and sour cream were found without production dates, and in some cases, the production dates were illegible.
A directive was issued to prohibit the sale of the aforementioned food products, recall them from the market, and either destroy or dispose of them. The economic entity complied with the order immediately.
The citizen’s complaint also mentioned that expired “LOWETTi” brand biscuits were being sold at the “KARONA” LLC sales point. However, during the inspection, no violations were found regarding this specific product, as the biscuits being sold were within their expiration dates.
