15 Children Hospitalized in Gyumri Due to Acute Intestinal Infection

Gyumri, May 15 – Fifteen children from the “Tiramayr Hayastani” center in Gyumri, Shirak Province, have been hospitalized with acute intestinal infection. This was reported by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.

The affected children were admitted to the infectious diseases department of the Gyumri Medical Center. According to official reports, their condition is assessed as satisfactory, and a positive dynamic in their recovery has been observed. As of today, no new cases have been registered.

Investigation Underway

Specialists from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention promptly launched an epidemiological investigation into the incident. This included taking samples and conducting laboratory tests to determine the source and cause of the infection.

Initial tests on drinking water samples from the area have not revealed any deviations from established norms, suggesting that the tap water supply is not the source of the contamination. However, biological samples are still undergoing examination, and further information will be provided once these investigations are complete.

Community Impact and Response

The incident has drawn attention to public health safety in the region. Local authorities and medical personnel are closely monitoring the situation to prevent further spread of the infection and ensure the well-being of the affected children.

The “Tiramayr Hayastani” center, from which the children were hospitalized, is cooperating fully with health officials during the ongoing investigation. The community awaits the full results of the laboratory tests to understand the exact cause of the outbreak.

This incident underscores the importance of stringent hygiene and sanitation practices, especially in institutions caring for children, to prevent the occurrence and spread of infectious diseases.

The health authorities have assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to control the situation and protect public health.
