In a recent interview, Artashes Deacon Ajapahyan commented on the upcoming elections in Gyumri, stating that the ruling party, Civil Contract (ՔՊ), will not pass the threshold without significant electoral fraud. He emphasized that current elections in Armenia are not genuine, and the public is being deceived into believing their will is being exercised.
No Genuine Elections in Armenia, Says Deacon
Deacon Ajapahyan asserted, “If they cannot apply enough electoral fraud in Gyumri, then the Civil Contract will unequivocally not pass, but we do not know what they will do.” He further elaborated on the current electoral landscape in Armenia, claiming, “These elections, we saw what they did. Now, in reality, there are no elections in the Republic of Armenia, they do not exist, the people are being deceived to show that whatever happens is by their will, so that the people do not rebel.”
Criticism of the Ruling Party’s Stance on the Church
The Deacon also criticized the ruling party’s actions against the church, stating that by electing Nikol Pashinyan, people are going against God and the church, as Pashinyan has attacked the church. He highlighted the dedication of priests, even preventing suicide attempts in the army, underscoring their vital role in society.
Restriction on Clergy Movement: ‘Petty Revenge’
Regarding the restriction on priests crossing the Armenian border for military training, Deacon Ajapahyan dismissed it as
