Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs Clarifies Yerevan Canal Incident, Denies Reports of Multiple Victims

Yerevan, July 17 – The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia has issued a statement clarifying reports circulating in the media regarding an incident where citizens allegedly fell into a canal in Yerevan. Contrary to some information, only one person was involved in the incident and has been rescued.

According to a press release from the Ministry, an alarm was received by the 112 operational management center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs around 1:00 AM on July 17. The report indicated that citizens had fallen into a canal located along Batikyan Street in Yerevan.

Rescue Operations and Clarification

Upon receiving the alert, combat units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Rescue Service and operational groups from the police were immediately dispatched to the scene. Rescuers initiated search operations along the length of the canal to locate the individuals.

Investigations at the scene revealed that only one person had fallen into the canal. This individual was successfully rescued and subsequently transported to a hospital for medical attention. The Ministry explicitly stated that the widely circulated information suggesting that two other citizens had also fallen into the canal is inaccurate and does not correspond to reality.

The quick response of the emergency services ensured that the situation was managed effectively, focusing on the factual circumstances of the incident.
