Tragic Incident in Yerevan: Woman’s Body Found in Nar-Dos Street Courtyard

Yerevan, August 10 – A mysterious and tragic incident took place today, August 10, in Yerevan. Around 11:20 AM, the Central Department of the Community Police of the General Department of Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia received information that a body had been found in the courtyard of building No. 21 on Nar-Dos Street.

Police and Investigative Team Respond to the Scene

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, an operational group from the Central Department of the Police, led by acting head Vazgen Tadevosyan, arrived at the scene. Also present were patrols from the 2nd company of the 4th battalion of the Yerevan City Regiment of the Patrol Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, led by battalion commander Davit Nikoghosyan and company commander Vladimir Derdzian.

The area was cordoned off by senior patrol officer Tigran Baghdasaryan and patrol officer Hayk Mkrtchyan from the same company. On site, community police officers and patrols identified the body as Anzhik S., a 79-year-old resident of Yerevan.

Criminal Proceedings Initiated

Information about the incident was forwarded from the Central Department of the Police to the 1st Investigative Department of the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts of the Yerevan City Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. An investigative team, led by the duty investigator, arrived from there.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated by the investigative department regarding the incident. The investigation is currently underway to determine whether the death was a murder, a suicide, or an accident.

Recent Similar Incidents in Armenia

This incident follows a series of other mysterious death cases reported across Armenia:

  • August 7, 2026: A mysterious death case in a village in Shirak Province, where a young man’s body, a firearm, and a letter were found near his parents’ graves.
  • August 3, 2026: A body was discovered under the Davtashen Bridge in the Hrazdan River.
  • August 2, 2026: Rescuers spent several hours searching before recovering a man’s body from a flowing water pipe.
  • August 2, 2026: After approximately 12 hours of search operations, the body of a 65-year-old man was found in a canal.
  • August 1, 2026: A tragic incident in Gegharkunik, where a body was discovered in a field near Chkalovka village.
  • July 30, 2026: A mysterious death case in Kotayk Province, where a woman’s body was found on the riverbank under the Nor Hajn Bridge.
  • July 29, 2026: A body was discovered under the Kievyan Bridge.
  • July 26, 2026: Rescuers, after opening the door of an apartment in one of the buildings on Tumanyan Street, found the body of a 32-year-old man in the bathroom.
  • July 24, 2026: A mysterious incident in Gegharkunik, where the body of a 31-year-old man was found in one of the recreational areas of Lake Sevan.
  • July 23, 2026: A “Lexus” and the driver’s body were found in Nerkin Hand positions; the deceased was one of the most active participants in all Artsakh wars.

The authorities continue to investigate these incidents to ascertain the causes and bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding each death.
