YEREVAN, August 25 – A 2.9 magnitude earthquake struck Georgia yesterday, with its tremors extending into various regions of Armenia. The seismic event, recorded at 6:04 PM on August 24, has been confirmed by the seismological network of the Territorial Seismic Protection Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.

Earthquake Details and Impact

The earthquake’s epicenter was located 13 kilometers west of the Georgian city of Dmanisi. The hypocenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers, and the underground tremor’s intensity in the epicenter zone reached 4 points on the Richter scale.

The Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Rescue Service disseminated information regarding the event, stating that the tremors were felt in several Armenian villages. Specifically, residents in the Shirak region’s Bavra, Saragyugh, and Sizavet villages reported feeling the earthquake. Additionally, the villages of Paghaghbyur, Dzyunashogh, and Metsavan in the Lori region also experienced tremors, with an intensity of 2-3 points.

No Immediate Reports of Damage or Casualties

As of the time of reporting, there have been no immediate reports of damage to infrastructure or casualties in either Georgia or Armenia. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and assess any potential aftershocks or secondary impacts.
