The park at 40 Charents Street in the Kentron administrative district of Yerevan, next to Yerevan kindergarten N8, is proposed to be named after Hrachuhi Jinanyan. Jinanyan was a prominent actress, TV presenter, and People’s Artist of the Armenian SSR. This information was reported by “Pastinfo” from the Yerevan City Hall.
City Council to Discuss Naming Proposal
The city authorities are returning from their summer recess, and the first session of the 7th convocation of the Yerevan City Council is scheduled for September 8. It is expected that the proposal to name the park after Hrachuhi Jinanyan will be discussed during this session.
Who was Hrachuhi Jinanyan?
Hrachuhi Jinanyan was born on November 25, 1919, in Constantinople. In 1925, she repatriated to Soviet Armenia. She studied at the Faculty of Philology of Yerevan State University from 1936 to 1941.
From 1941, she worked at Public Radio of Armenia as an announcer, then as an editor and director. From the day of the establishment of the Yerevan State Institute of Theatre until 2002, she was engaged in pedagogical activities, leading the stage speech department for many years.
Other Naming Initiatives in Yerevan
