Armenian Foreign Ministry Leadership and Ambassadors Workshop Held in Gyumri

Gyumri, August 29 – A workshop for the leadership of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and heads of diplomatic missions abroad commenced yesterday in Gyumri, Shirak Province. The event, held with the participation of high-ranking Armenian officials, focused on foreign policy priorities and the promotion of international trade relations.

Opening Remarks by Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the particular significance of this year’s workshop. He noted two key factors: the workshop’s timing after the Armenian parliamentary elections and its occurrence under new realities. In this context, Minister Mirzoyan underscored the continuity of Armenia’s foreign policy in consistently fostering a peaceful and cooperative environment around Armenia, further institutionalizing peace, and developing partnerships.

Addressing the second distinctive feature, the Minister highlighted the importance of promoting international trade relations within the partnership agenda, aligning with the Ministry’s new functions.

Addresses from High-Ranking Officials

Messages were delivered during the meeting by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan and Speaker of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also delivered a speech within the framework of the workshop.

The Prime Minister addressed the foreign policy priorities reflected in the Armenian government’s program and the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Armenian diplomatic missions abroad in implementing them. Prime Minister Pashinyan stated that the change in the Ministry’s name is based on a clear concept aimed at ensuring concrete results and increasing welfare through the promotion of the economic component in foreign policy. The speech was followed by a discussion, during which Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan answered questions from the ambassadors.

Members of the Armenian National Assembly and the government were also present at the opening of the workshop.

Focus on Economic Diplomacy and New Realities

The workshop serves as a crucial platform for Armenia to adapt its foreign policy strategies to the evolving global landscape. The emphasis on economic diplomacy, as highlighted by Prime Minister Pashinyan, signifies a strategic shift towards leveraging diplomatic efforts to achieve tangible economic benefits for the nation. This includes fostering international trade, attracting investments, and strengthening economic ties with partner countries.

The discussions also covered the implications of the recent parliamentary elections and the new geopolitical realities facing Armenia. Ambassadors and diplomatic mission heads were tasked with ensuring the consistent implementation of the country’s foreign policy goals, particularly in promoting peace, cooperation, and economic prosperity.

The event in Gyumri provided an opportunity for a comprehensive review of Armenia’s diplomatic agenda and a collaborative effort to address current challenges and opportunities in international relations. The engagement of top government officials underscores the national importance attributed to these discussions and the collective commitment to advancing Armenia’s interests on the global stage.
