Yerevan, July 13 – Police in the Davtashen district of Yerevan have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with an attempt to illegally distribute drugs. The operation led to the seizure of 210.36 grams of methamphetamine, also known as ‘Crystal’, which the suspect allegedly intended to distribute through the Telegram messaging application.
Suspicious Behavior Leads to Arrest
The incident unfolded when police officers observed a parked ‘KIA’ brand car in Davtashen, whose driver exhibited suspicious behavior. Upon approaching the vehicle and requesting documents, officers witnessed the driver, identified as Tigran M., a 31-year-old resident of Yerevan, throw a mobile phone and a yellow paper box from the car. This prompted immediate action from the law enforcement officials.
Methamphetamine Discovered and Seized
Tigran M. was apprehended and transported to the Davtashen police department. During questioning, he admitted that the discarded box contained four packages filled with ‘Crystal’ type drugs, which he had acquired via Telegram with the intention of placing them in various locations for distribution. A subsequent inspection of the scene confirmed his statement, leading to the discovery of the four packages containing a total of 210.36 grams of methamphetamine.
Criminal Proceedings Initiated
Following the incident, documentation was compiled by the Davtashen police department and forwarded to the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts’ investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Yerevan. Criminal proceedings have been initiated based on the findings. Tigran M. has been formally arrested and transferred to a detention facility pending further investigation and legal proceedings.
