Yerevan, July 17 – The European Union Partnership Mission in Armenia (EUPM Armenia) marked its official launch with an expert roundtable event held in Yerevan on July 13. Co-organised with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the event coincided with the adoption of the EU decision on the establishment of EUPM Armenia.

Mission to Bolster Armenia’s Resilience Against Hybrid Threats

The mission is designed to support Armenia’s capabilities in countering hybrid threats, including cyber threats, external information manipulation and interference (FIMI), and illicit financial flows. Through strategic advice, technical expert support, and institutional capacity building, EUPM Armenia will assist Armenian institutions in responding to such emerging threats.

The Yerevan event was co-chaired by Stefano Tomat, EU Civilian Operations Commander, and Vahan Kostanyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. They were joined by Vassilis Maragos, Ambassador of the European Union to Armenia, and Cosmin Dinescu, Head of EUPM Armenia.

Experts Discuss Strengthening Resilience

The roundtable brought together representatives from civil society, academia, and public policy experts. The discussions provided a platform for exchanging ideas on strengthening Armenia’s resilience against evolving threats such as cyber threats, external information manipulation and interference (FIMI), and illicit financial flows.

The European Union Partnership Mission in Armenia (EUPM Armenia) is a civilian advisory mission operating within the framework of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) at the request of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The mission was established on April 21, 2026, and officially launched on July 13, 2026.
