Armenian Government Approves Land for Green Technology Hub in Marmashen
Yerevan, July 24 – The Armenian government has given its approval for the alienation of a 0.52-hectare plot of land in the Marmashen settlement of the Akhuryan consolidated community, Shirak Province. This decision, made during a cabinet meeting on July 23, paves the way for a significant educational program aimed at developing the IT sector and fostering startups in the regions.
The land will be transferred through direct sale to the “Gyumri Information Technologies Center” scientific-educational foundation. According to David Khudatyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, a green technology hub is slated for construction on this site by the end of 2028, with a total investment volume of approximately ֏100 million.
Innovative Complex to Feature Educational Center and Tech Housing
The innovative complex is designed to include a modern educational center and six technological housing units equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including unmanned aerial vehicles. This infrastructure is expected to provide a robust environment for technological learning and development.
A core component of this initiative is its social aspect. Women and youth from Akhuryan and surrounding rural communities will have the opportunity to participate in free technology training programs. To ensure accessibility, free transportation services to the educational complex will also be provided for participants.
The project is anticipated to not only elevate the level of digital literacy in the region but also lay a solid foundation for the creation of at least five new startups. This focus on local talent development and entrepreneurial growth underscores the government’s commitment to regional economic revitalization.
