Six Indian Nationals Arrested for Robbery and Assault in Yerevan
Yerevan, March 25 – Six Indian citizens have been arrested in Yerevan on charges of robbery and assault against their compatriots. The incident, which took place on March 9, involved the suspects breaking into an apartment, physically assaulting the victims, and stealing money and a mobile phone.
According to reports from Shamshyan.com, at approximately 02:10 AM on March 9, the Yerevan City Department of the Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia received a call from 25-year-old Shivam A., an Indian citizen, who reported being chased by an unknown person with a knife and having bloody hands. Shortly after, 34-year-old Manan M., also an Indian citizen, called to report that someone had entered their apartment, assaulted him, and then left.
Upon arrival, Shivam A. informed the police that around 01:30 AM, six Indian nationals unknown to him entered their apartment. They woke him up and demanded money. When he stated he had no money, they hit him on the back with a belt and struck him in the face and head with a knife, causing bodily injuries. They then stole a ‘Realmi C63’ mobile phone from his trouser pocket and 190,000 drams from under his mattress. Concurrently, they assaulted other Indian citizens residing at the same address: Manan M., 37-year-old Harpinder S. (from whom they stole 35,000 AMD), 30-year-old Rahul (from whom they stole 6,000 AMD), and 38-year-old Amrik S. (from whom they stole 2,000 AMD).
Through operative-investigative measures, the criminal police identified the perpetrators as Indian citizens: 37-year-old Jajmanjot D., 32-year-old Ram L., Mintu S., Anmol S., and Ajay K. It was further revealed that Anmol S. inflicted the knife wounds on Shivam A., Mintu S. stole his mobile phone, and Jajmanjot D. stole the money from under the mattress. Jajmanjot D. also instructed the others to assault and steal from the remaining victims.
Documents related to the incident have been compiled by the Yerevan Criminal Police and transferred to the Ajapnyak and Davitashen administrative districts’ investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia in Yerevan.
