Yerevan Kindergarten No. 24 to get new building for 180 children
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan officially launched the construction of a new building for Kindergarten No. 24 by laying a symbolic capsule at the foundation. This project aims to replace the more than 90-year-old dilapidated building, which was deemed beyond repair.
The new facility will significantly expand the kindergarten’s capacity, allowing for the formation of six groups instead of the previous three. This expansion will enable approximately 180 children to attend the kindergarten, a substantial increase from the previous capacity of 80 children. The Yerevan City Hall reported this development, emphasizing the importance of modernizing educational infrastructure.
Modern Standards and Sustainable Solutions
Mayor Avinyan highlighted that the construction is being carried out according to the latest standards. “The old kindergarten building was completely subject to demolition, and using this opportunity, we decided to build a new one, expanding the kindergarten’s area and capabilities. The construction is being carried out according to the latest standards. In fact, the construction works carried out by us should be the most exemplary, so that the private sector also takes an example from us,” the mayor stated.
The project is being funded through the community budget and incorporates several sustainable and modern solutions. The roof of the kindergarten will feature a 20 kW solar photovoltaic system, along with a solar water heater. A new boiler house will be constructed, and a modern heating system will be installed to ensure energy efficiency and comfort.
Furthermore, the building will be fully equipped with fire protection systems, water supply, internal sewerage, and rainwater drainage networks. Ventilation and video surveillance systems will also be integrated to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the children and staff.
Enhanced Outdoor Facilities
Beyond the main building, the project includes extensive landscaping and improvements to the outdoor area. The yard will be renovated, expanding the green zone and creating a new playground. Gazebos, benches, and trash cans will be installed, enhancing the recreational space for children. An irrigation system and external lighting network will also be implemented to maintain the green areas and ensure safety during evening hours.
This initiative underscores the city’s commitment to providing high-quality educational facilities and improving the urban environment for its residents. The new Kindergarten No. 24 is expected to serve as a model for future public construction projects in Yerevan.
