ARF and ‘Strong Armenia’ Announce Candidates for Local Elections in Artashat and Stepanavan
Yerevan, September 21, 2026 – The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) and the ‘Strong Armenia’ Party have officially announced their leading candidates for the local self-government elections (LSG) to be held on October 25, 2026, in the enlarged communities of Artashat and Stepanavan.
According to the official statements, Gerasim Vardanyan will lead the ARF’s proportional list in the Artashat community elections. In Stepanavan, Arsen Gevorgyan has been nominated to head the ‘Strong Armenia’ Party’s list.
The announcement follows earlier declarations from both political forces regarding their participation in the upcoming LSG elections. On September 15, Narek Karapetyan, the head of the ‘Strong Armenia’ faction in the National Assembly, confirmed the party’s intention to participate in the local elections. Subsequently, on September 16, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a representative of the ARF Supreme Body, announced the party’s involvement in LSG elections across several communities.
Upcoming Local Elections Across Armenia
The local self-government elections on October 25 will encompass 21 communities throughout Armenia. Of these, 19 communities will conduct elections under a proportional representation system, while the remaining two, Fioletovo and Shamiram, will utilize a majoritarian electoral system.
